Players Pins

Players Pins are very difficult to find.  They are given only to the players who played in the tournament. I own several Players Pins and I try to focus on Nicklaus' Major victories.  Players pin from Non-major tournaments are usually only worth $20-30.  Major players pin range from $200 to 2000 depending on the age and Major and who won the tournament.  Masters Players pin seems to be the rarest and most expensive as there are usually less then 100 participants each year.   The PGA British and the US Open usually have around 150 participants each year.

Player 72 in 72.  This is a Rare 1972 Masters Players Pin used by Mr. Bert Green. These are very rare as there is only about 100 made each year and very few of them find there way into collectors hands. It is also a great year as Jack Nicklaus won his 4th Green Jacket this year. There are 20,000-30,000 Badges made each year? vs 100 or so player pins.

I love this players clip but I really love the story behind it.  I was able to purchase this clip from Mike Fetchick's estate.  The Western Open was considered a Major back in the day.  Well Mike Fetchick won the 1956 Western Open and it was a big upset.  This is a statement about this victory from Wiki. " He won the 1956 Western Open at The Presidio in San Francisco, California in an 18-hole playoff over Doug Ford, Jay Hebert and Don January. In the 1950s, the Western Open was considered by some to be one of major championships in men's professional golf along with The Masters, U.S. Open and the PGA Championship. It's generally conceded by golf historians that Fetchick's victory over the sports top stars resulted in a demotion for the Western Open below the other majors."    This clip has some history!
